a shadow splays across her collarbones
in the pattern of flowers shrouded in sunlight
which sit on the cluttered window pane.
her soft features stare back at her from the old mirror,
half hidden by notes decorated with scribbles and dried flowers.
the chunky mirror sits between two windows,
an old golden eclipse of a moon clings to it.
she places the rosy lipstick with a soft thud
back with the other tubes marching along the cluttered desk.
the disrupted thud returns to quiet.
her finger presses her freckled cheek as she inspects her image
jasper nails flutter to fix silver clips in her wavy black hair.
the quiet is broken by the small murmur of the old TV
beside her sits a weathered open notebook
strict lines and outrageous colour burst forward
combining to create an eye-catching butterfly
surrounded by light pink and deep crimson hearts.
while mandarins wait to be noticed
their peels and slices arranged as hearts,
and then promptly forgotten.
hope you enjoy!! i've been making mood boards on pintrest and then writing poems and its rlly fun yayayay ☄. *. ⋆
